Emergence Clustering Server

\E*mer"gence\, n.; pl. {Emergences}.
The act of rising out of a fluid, or coming forth from
envelopment or concealment, or of rising into view; sudden
uprisal or appearance.

Platypus Technologies EMERGENCE Clustering Server is a model-based Collaborative Filtering recommender system. EMERGENCE builds a probabilistic model from user-item votes which can then be used to compute the utility of unobserved items. The model is constructed from anonymous data that describes which items, such as products or pages, were purchased or viewed by different customers. A set of clusters emerge from an unsupervised algorithm that discovers the best grouping of users into neighborhoods. These clusters form the basis of the classification of users and subsequent ranked recommendation of items.

Product Highlights:

  • Supports explicit definition of clusters based on domain knowledge
  • Supports unsupervised learning of optimal segmentation of training data into clusters (when the number of clusters is unknown)
  • Control over many learning algorithm parameters, such a maximum iterations and cross-validation
  • Configurable to use different levels of accuracy
  • Available for Windows and Linux platforms
